


Art Aia – Creatives In Residence’ founder Giovanni Morassutti has been invited by the TransCultural Exchange to speak at the Conference on International Opportunities in the Arts which will take place in Boston Massachusetts on November 2022.
Morassutti will focus on environmental, and sustainable art practices providing artists direct access to understanding Climate Change via artist in residence programme.
The afternoon session will take place on Sunday November 6th from 2:15 – 4:00 pm and it will be moderated by Jane D. Marsching, Arts, Professor and Sustainability Fellow, Massachusetts College of Art and Design
Other presentes include Julian Calleros, Founder, ACRAR, Anima Casa Rural Artists in Residency, Mexico, Janeil Engelstad, Founding Director, Make Art with Purpose; Embedded Artist, Institute of Innovation and Global Engagement, University of Washington, Gordon Knox, Founder, WEAVE: Ecology-based International Learning Spaces, and Ute Meta Bauer, International Curator; Professor, School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University; and Founding Director of the NTU CCA Singapore.

Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is an international art residency located near the comune of Sesto al Reghena in the north-eastern Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It’s a place for artistic production and research that focuses on the development of the creative process and facilitates cultural exchange across borders.
History
Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is located three kilometers from Sesto al Reghena, in the locality of “Banduzzo” (which in local dialect means “Place Banned”) and from the mid-nineteenth century has been an agricultural center of the Morassutti Family.
The small Church of St. Anthony of Padua
In the garden of Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence stands the nineteenth century Church of St. Anthony of Padua, erected by the owners of these lands and it contains the contemporary altar-piece which represents Saint John the Baptist and Saint Antony of Padua.
Today
Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence currently promotes cultural and artistic activities at a local and international level. In the past few years several teaching artists have been collaborating with the venue like American Master Drama Teacher John Strasberg, son of Lee Strasberg, who held two International acting workshops as well as Italo-Palestinian artist Mustafa Sabbagh who taught a photography masterclass in 2014. Several artist collectives have also been hosted in the center like Marsala 11 and the Institut für Alles Mögliche of Berlin among others.
Art Aia Facilities
Art Aia Creatives / In / Residence has various working spaces at the disposal of the visiting artists. Spacious rooms and outdoor spaces are available for production, exhibiting, exchange and leisure, including the Art Aia guest house, the Art Aia studio, the garden, the multi purpose and cross-disciplinary art centre (in progress), the Art Aia rehearsal space, the fields and the vineyard where installations and performances can be realized.

Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence è una residenza d’arte internazionale situata all´interno di un antico centro agricolo vicino al comune di Sesto al Reghena, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Attualmente lo spazio promuove attività culturali ed artistiche a livello locale ed internazionale. Diversi gli artisti e i collettivi che hanno collaborato con Art Aia come l’attore e regista americano John Strasberg, figlio di Lee Strasberg, che ha tenuto due seminari di recitazione , il fotografo italo-palestinese Mustafa Sabbagh che ha tenuto un corso di perfezionamento nel 2014, I Marsala 11 con Mappe Fluide, l’ Institut für Alles Mögliche in uno scambio culturale con Berlino, l’ Arts Territory Exchange sostenuto dal Centro inglese per le pratiche sostenibili nelle arti e l´Uronto Artist Community in Bangladesh. Come sostiene John Strasberg in un’intervista rilasciata durante le riprese del documentario Personal Dream Space: “Art Aia è un posto speciale. Il fatto che le persone si incontrino in un luogo di campagna, con la voglia di impegnarsi per migliorare, cambia semplicemente l’atmosfera di lavoro. C’è una sorta di rilassamento e familiarità che lo rende davvero molto speciale”.

Art Aia – Creatives/ In / Residence is partnering with Artists In Residence TV, the audiovisual platform dedicated to art residency programs, that will be featuring its video contents about Artist residency programs.
This year, Artists In Residence TV will launch an Intranet project called AIRtvPro where Artist residency managers will be able to share their open-calls and events, in addition to have complete access to the information they want to share with the artists. Artists In Residence TV representatives have traveled for two years in Latin America to list the residencies of the region and they interviewed more than 1000 founders, residency managers, artists and curators.
Art Aia programs like the Cross-disciplinary Artist Residency Program and its partnerships like the Arts Territory Exchange Residency in Sustainable Practice and the Uronto Residential Art Exchange Program will be featured by Artists In Residence TV so that more people will get information about open calls, management, communication, funding and more.
