Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence was founded by actor Giovanni Morassutti, which is also the artistic director of the cross-disciplinary artist residency program open every summer to international artists that can spend time to focus on their creative process in the various working spaces at their disposal like the Art Aia studio, the garden, the multi purpose and cross-diciplinary art centre (in progress), the Art Aia rehearsal space, the fields and the vineyard where installations and performances can be realised. The cross-disciplinary artist residency often culminates with an exhibiting event open to the local public.
Since 2018, Giovanni Morassutti also started to collaborate with the Arts Territory Exchange in the organization of the Residency in Sustainable Practice which is an off shoot programme that hosts two artists per year giving them the opportunity to develop their practices in relation to ideas of ecology and sustainability .
As a theatre director Giovanni Morassutti has also been teaching and working on his own productions as well as organizing international workshops taught by international teaching artists like American Master Drama Teacher John Strasberg, son of Lee Strasberg from the Actors studio.
As a cultural entrepreneur Giovanni is developing a spontaneous circuit , in order to cross purely institutional , cultural systems , where people can develop conditions for an improvement of the artistic proposal ,cultural and social as well as really interact in a perspective of collaboration.
In 2016 Giovanni Morassutti opened a space in Berlin, Germany , Art Aia – La Dolce Berlin , which is becoming one of the most exciting alternative location for contemporary art, culture, authentic Italian food sharing many crossovers with the Italian headquarters including a facilitation of cultural activities and an interest in cultural research and artistic experimentation. Several artists and artist collectives have been hosted in the Berlin affiliation space including Wyatt Mills (USA), Roger Thorp (UK) and Kaoru Shibuta (JPN).
