Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is an International art residency located in the contryside of Northern Italy near Casarsa della Delizia the hometown of Pier Paolo Pasolini. The venue offers several kind of activities including experimental film residencies aimed to promote the writing, creation and post-production of documentaries, short films, feature films following a logic released from the pressures and constraints of the institutional systems of main stream film industry. The crews involved in the projects can be hosted in the structure while working within several location of the art residency. For any outdoor shooting, they can use the garden, the vineyards and the fields. In recent years at Art Aia occurred several creative residencies related to the audiovisual resulted in documentaries and short films that have seen players also coming from the nearest town of Sesto al Reghena like a work in progress documentary film about the organic creative process taught by John Strasberg, son of Lee Strasberg.

Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is an international art residency located near the comune of Sesto al Reghena in the north-eastern Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It’s a place for artistic production and research that focuses on the development of the creative process and facilitates cultural exchange across borders.
History Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is located three kilometers from Sesto al Reghena, in the locality of “Banduzzo” (which in local dialect means “Place Banned”) and from the mid-nineteenth century has been an agricultural center of the Morassutti Family.
The small Church of St. Anthony of Padua In the garden of Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence stands the nineteenth century Church of St. Anthony of Padua, erected by the owners of these lands and it contains the contemporary altar-piece which represents Saint John the Baptist and Saint Antony of Padua.
Today Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence currently promotes cultural and artistic activities at a local and international level. In the past few years several teaching artists have been collaborating with the venue like American Master Drama Teacher John Strasberg, son of Lee Strasberg, who held two International acting workshops as well as Italo-Palestinian artist Mustafa Sabbagh who taught a photography masterclass in 2014. Several artist collectives have also been hosted in the center like Marsala 11 and the Institut für Alles Mögliche of Berlin among others.
Art Aia Facilities Art Aia Creatives / In / Residence has various working spaces at the disposal of the visiting artists. Spacious rooms and outdoor spaces are available for production, exhibiting, exchange and leisure, including the Art Aia guest house, the Art Aia studio, the garden, the multi purpose and cross-disciplinary art centre (in progress), the Art Aia rehearsal space, the fields and the vineyard where installations and performances can be realized.
Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence è una residenza d’arte internazionale situata all´interno di un antico centro agricolo vicino al comune di Sesto al Reghena, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Attualmente lo spazio promuove attività culturali ed artistiche a livello locale ed internazionale. Diversi gli artisti e i collettivi che hanno collaborato con Art Aia come l’attore e regista americano John Strasberg, figlio di Lee Strasberg, che ha tenuto due seminari di recitazione , il fotografo italo-palestinese Mustafa Sabbagh che ha tenuto un corso di perfezionamento nel 2014, I Marsala 11 con Mappe Fluide, l’ Institut für Alles Mögliche in uno scambio culturale con Berlino, l’ Arts Territory Exchange sostenuto dal Centro inglese per le pratiche sostenibili nelle arti e l´Uronto Artist Community in Bangladesh. Come sostiene John Strasberg in un’intervista rilasciata durante le riprese del documentario Personal Dream Space: “Art Aia è un posto speciale. Il fatto che le persone si incontrino in un luogo di campagna, con la voglia di impegnarsi per migliorare, cambia semplicemente l’atmosfera di lavoro. C’è una sorta di rilassamento e familiarità che lo rende davvero molto speciale”.
Si è conclusa da pochi giorni la ventottesima edizione del Festival del Teatro Patologico diretto da Dario D’Ambrosi e dedicato alla memoria di Ellen Stewart, La Mama di New York. Molti gli spettacoli presentati tra cui Railroadscritto e diretto dall’americano Bryan Reynolds, fondatore della compagnia internazionale Transversal Theater Company. Un cast europeo con attori greci come Xronis Sapountzakis e Sophia Dermitzaki , belgi come Bruno Mathelart e suo figlio Romain, svedesi come Fredrik Schirén, olandesi come l´attrice e cantante Anouk briefjes e italiani come Francesca Tasini e Antonio Russo alle prese con un dramma forte e intenso sul tema dell’Olocausto.
La storia di due famiglie, una ebrea e una nazista e dei loro posteri americani. Il dramma è originariamente concepito per far interpretare agli stessi quattro attori tutti i ruoli come per Giovanni Morassutti, che ha avuto modo d’interpretare sia il padre della famiglia tedesca nella produzione in Svezia del 2014, sia quello del padre della famiglia ebrea in Belgio nel 2019, cimentandosi con “le due facce della medaglia” e dando prova della sua versatilità attoriale. “Sono molto contento di questo riconoscimento” afferma Morassutti. “Non solo per il fatto che sia un omaggio a Ellen con cui ho avuto l’onore di lavorare durante gli anni trascorsi a New York e che tengo sempre nel cuore, ma perche’ ritengo che uno spettacolo con attori internazionali rappresenti una sfida e un’opportunità di mettere in gioco un’idea culturale prestabilita di teatro e recitazione. In fondo questo l’ho imparato proprio a La MaMa“. Morassutti e un attore diplomato al Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Roma, da alcuni anni di base a Berlino, che si divide tra cinema e teatro oltre a dedicarsi all’arte contemporanea come artista e imprenditore culturale.
